Vingroup plans US$500 million EV manufacturing investment in the Philippines
The Philippine Department of Trade and Industry says the planned facility is targeted to begin construction in Q1 2027, with an initial capacity of 200,000 vehicles a year.

A major manufacturing plan for Philippine e-mobility
According to the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry, Vingroup is planning a US$500 million electric-vehicle manufacturing facility in the Philippines. The project is targeted to begin construction in the first quarter of 2027, with a development period of about 12 to 18 months.
The announcement represents a significant potential expansion of Vietnam–Philippines industrial cooperation, while the project remains a planned investment rather than a completed facility.
Cars, e-scooters and export potential
The proposed plant is expected to have an initial annual capacity of around 200,000 vehicles. Plans cited by DTI include electric cars and e-scooters, with output intended for the Philippine market as well as international exports.
For the local EV ecosystem, manufacturing at this scale could support broader vehicle availability, supplier activity, employment and charging-infrastructure demand.
A milestone viewed from the local market
For DT Car Philippines, the development is especially meaningful as a Vietnamese-founded automotive business operating in the Philippine market. Lisa Dong described the plan as another opportunity for Vietnamese innovation to contribute to local industrial growth and green mobility.
